Mel's Gourmet Diner
Mel's Gourmet Diner
The first Mel’s Diner opened in 1989 and has since grown to a 10-unit chain known affectionately as “Southwest Florida’s Kitchen.” When the company approached Quantified Marketing Group in 2005, it was in a position where it was ready to revamp the brand in order to prepare it for rapid expansion. Combining Mel’s longstanding reputation for quality and value with a contemporary twist, Quantified Marketing Group created a new category in the diner segment of the restaurant industry with the introduction of Mel’s Gourmet Diner.
Mel’s is now transitioning into its “modern-day” version of a diner, still offering fast, made-from-scratch comfort foods, but with higher quality ingredients and in an updated atmosphere.
The new design includes wood flooring, stacked stone, contemporary fabrics, warm lighting and rich colors for the booths and walls. A new menu was developed based on traditional comfort foods with “gourmet twists,” such as meatloaf with a portabella mushroom sauce. The main focal point of the restaurant is a curved dessert bar in the center of the floor plan, featuring root beer on tap, Mel’s Mile High Pie, specialty coffee beverages and other signature dessert items.
For Mel’s Gourmet Diner, QMG was able to put a modern-gourmet twist on a classic favorite by creating a warm and inviting environment with a contemporary feel. This new concept was so well received that we started receiving press about Mel’s new gourmet concept six months before the first location even opened to the public.
