El Shrimp Bucket
Situation: When Grupo Anderson’s lost its Cancun seafood restaurant, El Shrimp Bucket, to Hurricane Wilma in 2005, they took the rebuild as an opportunity to update the restaurant’s concept and design.
Solution: Realizing the potential of this concept, Quantified Marketing Group wanted to reinforce its strengths by repositioning the restaurant as a specialty shrimp restaurant that offers high-quality, wild-caught Mexican shrimp – setting it completely apart from the many other seafood concepts that serve only farm-raised shrimp. The décor of the restaurant has been redesigned to reflect a rustic retreat, characteristic of an authentic shrimp boat. Accessories including life preservers, ropes, rusty anchors and wood barrels emphasize the nautical theme. Signage and point of purchase materials throughout the restaurant exhibit the restaurant’s ironic sense of humor as cartoon shrimp express themselves through word bubbles. One shrimp proclaims, “I’m too sexy for my shell,” while another provokes, “Bite me!”
Result: El Shrimp Bucket is currently in the rebuilding process, and the concept has been revamped to keep things fresh – just like the shrimp. The restaurant will soon re-open its doors in Mexico and is on the verge of being introduced into the U.S. in response to the latest trends in seafood consumption.
