R.J. Gator's brings new location to Sarasota

Jupiter, Fla. – A fresh seafood display, a raw bar, tiki hut and live musical entertainment are just some of the things to come at the new R.J. Gator’s location set for Sarasota.

Terry Jones and Jerry Milne, franchisee partners for the new site, which will be located at 351 North Cattleman Road (near the intersection of I-75 and Fruitville), are also owners of the Bradenton R.J. Gator’s that opened in 2002.

“We are often approached by guests at our Bradenton location who have driven from Sarasota to eat at the restaurant,” said Jones.  “We’re excited to be opening in Sarasota so we can bring R.J. Gator’s great food, fun dining experience and cool atmosphere to our new guests.”

Housed in the former Johnny Leverock’s Seafood House location, the latest R.J. Gator’s will begin conversion of the building in early December.  A late February to early March mark has been set for the grand opening.

Situated on a small lake, the restaurant will feature an outdoor deck lit by tiki torches and an indoor-outdoor bar.  There will also be a large tiki hut in the main dining area, surrounded by palm trees, in a Florida Keys/Everglades décor.  Guests will enjoy live Jimmy Buffet-style musical entertainment on the weekends.

Mr. Tim Timoteo, who founded R.J. Gator’s in 1986, came to Florida from Pennsylvania, where he owned a successful chain of steakhouses.  Searching for a concept that would stand out among the others, he created a casual Florida-style restaurant with a hometown atmosphere and a Caribbean-influenced menu.

As the company experiences this significant growth, its menu is also evolving from wings and sandwiches to a seafood grill with market fresh fish and steaks.  R.J. Gator’s is now known for signature menu items like the Alligator Tail, Havana Banana Chicken with black beans and rice and Handmade Coconut Shrimp with sweet plantains.  In addition, most new locations feature a raw bar and signature drinks, such as the Alligator Alley Punch.
