Restaurant executive brings joy to all during the holiday season

Jupiter, FL – We all know that the holidays are the season for giving, but one local man takes this to heart with the help of his popular restaurant chain, R.J. Gator’s.

For 17 straight years, R.J. Gator’s CEO, Tim Timoteo, has closed each of its 22 restaurant locations on Thanksgiving Day to serve a feast to the less fortunate.  This year, a staff of employees, volunteers and customers donated their time to serve more than 250 meals at each location, including approximately 1,500 turkeys, 2,500 pounds of potatoes, 800 pounds of cranberries, 900 pounds of stuffing, 500 pounds of corn, and 450 dozen rolls.

For those that were unable to make it to a location, delivery services were coordinated with local charities, and all costs were covered by R.J. Gator’s restaurant owners and franchisees.

For the past 14 years, Timoteo has also held a Christmas toy drive benefiting the less fortunate children of St. Mary’s in Pahokee.  These children of underprivileged migrant workers are given a Christmas by the goodwill of the management, staff and customers of each of the R.J. Gator’s locations, and the toys are personally delivered by “Santa Timoteo” himself, along with his elf companion.

“We are grateful for the things we have and want to share with those less fortunate,” Timoteo said.  “What may seem like a little thing for one person can make a huge difference in the life of someone else, and there’s no better time for that than during the holidays.”

In addition to these holiday contributions, R.J. Gator’s has also hosted a charity golf tournament for the past 15 years to benefit The Timoteo Family Foundation.  The tournament and foundation supports local and national cancer charities, and raised more than $10,000 during the 2005 tournament on November 18th.

Timoteo, who founded R.J. Gator’s in 1986, has always believed in the importance of community and charity support.  Each of his restaurants regularly contributes to non-profit organizations and causes on an ongoing basis throughout the entire year.
