Executive Profile: Aaron D. Allen, Founder/CEO Some would say that Aaron Allen’s professional aspirations were first sparked when he was just a few days old. Instead of taking their newborn directly home from the hospital, his parents brought him to the family’s seafood restaurant in Panama City, Florida.
Allen has felt a passion for the restaurant industry his entire life, embarking on a path that spurred him to create Quantified Marketing Group.
Long before Allen founded Quantified Marketing Group, he combined his entrepreneurial spirit with his interest in the restaurant industry. Allen’s Seafood Restaurant - the eatery that was founded and operated by Aaron’s father and grandfather - opened in 1969 as a small seafood market that sold oysters on the half shell and grouper sandwiches. It gradually expanded over the years, and Aaron was an instrumental part from a young age.
Allen’s first job was rolling silverware. Over the years he also worked as a grill cook, bus boy, dishwasher and host and even shucked oysters and made salads.
Fueled with restaurant operation experience at age 18, Allen managed the food and beverage operations for a 625-room resort on the Gulf of Mexico, and then led the operations of a $4 million Caribbean-themed gulf front restaurant before he graduated from college at Florida State University.
He went on to serve as the statewide marketing manager for the Florida Restaurant Association before being recruited to The Breakers, a five-star, five-diamond resort located in Palm Beach. At The Breakers, he headed marketing efforts for food and beverage outlets, such as golf courses, off-site retail operations in Miami, $50,000 club memberships and the $20 million spa redevelopment project, that generated $50 million annually.
Before founding Quantified Marketing Group, Allen was an executive for a restaurant marketing firm, where he created local store marketing plans, product launch campaigns and marketing training seminars for restaurant chains such as The Palm, Golden Corral, and Braum's Ice Cream. Allen soon thrived to open his own firm and implement his innovative vision, which led him to start Quantified Marketing Group in 2001.
Company History Quantified Marketing Group was founded on February 12, 2001 by Aaron D. Allen. Allen began the firm in his 960 square-foot, 2-bedroom apartment in West Palm Beach with only one client – IHOP. Allen’s client roster began to grow, and he moved his company to the hospitality industry capital of the world – Orlando, Florida.
Quantified Marketing Group continued to function as a one-person operation that offers marketing consulting services. In time, Allen received a growing number of requests from clients who wanted him to not only strategize the marketing plan, but to implement it as well. Allen decided to transform the company into a full-service firm offering capabilities from conceptualization to execution and measurement.
In September 2003, a public relations division was added to Quantified Marketing Group. The firm’s first public relations client was Leila, a Middle Eastern restaurant located in Palm Beach.
Public relations now represents the fastest growing division of QMG. Other divisions include marketing strategy, training, research and design. In July 2004, the company had one public relations staff member and five accounts. Now, the public relations division has close to 30 clients and a combined public relations staff of almost a dozen employees.
In January 2005, the Quantified Marketing Group staff members moved into an office in Heathrow, Fla., just north of Orlando. Less than six months later, the firm’s exponential growth already presented the need for a larger office, which they moved into in July.
Today, Quantified Marketing Group works with high-volume independent restaurants, chain restaurants and leading supplier companies in the development and execution of marketing and public relations campaigns. In just a short amount of time, the company has evolved from a small organization that offered strategic marketing services to a full-service firm that manages complete outsourced marketing, public relations and strategic brand management responsibilities from conceptualization to execution. Quantified Marketing Group now represents clients throughout the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, Canada and Italy.
