Port Richey, Fla.
– Mel’s Diner, affectionately known as “Southwest Florida’s kitchen,”
has always placed the satisfaction of its customers above all else.
Starting Monday, Feb. 20, the company’s Port Richey location will take
that belief to greater heights, offering free coffee to anyone stopping
by the restaurant every day from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. No purchase is
required and there are absolutely no strings attached.
On Mondays, the Port Richey still will offer a free “pit-stop”
service. Just pull up to the curb outside the eatery, and one of
Mel’s friendly attendants will top of your mug -- or offer you a fresh
cup -- before sending you on your way.
The perk (no pun intended) is part of a new customer appreciation
program initiated at Mel’s Diner -- just another way to say thanks to
its much-loved costumers in the area.
Founded by Chris Karakosta in San Carlos, FL in 1989, Mel’s Diner
originally set out to mimic the look and feel of Karakosta’s first
eatery, the Chicago-based family style diner, Dimitri’s.
Currently, the chain boasts 10 locations throughout southwest Florida
and plans to add four more stores by 2007, including spots in Naples,
Cape Coral and Sarasota. While its reach may be widespread, each
store continues to pride itself on the family friendly service, high
value and made-from-scratch comfort foods that made the original
location such a success.
