Jacksonville, Fla. – Times Grill, a family-oriented casual dining restaurant, prides itself on making sure guests always enjoy its specialty and made-to-order menu selections. In May, guests from Jacksonville, Fla. will get to experience Times Grill for the first time. This year, the restaurant concept is opening four locations throughout Florida in Jacksonville and Pensacola.
“We are excited to be able to expand our restaurant concept in Florida,” said President and CEO Kelly Harris. “We strive to make sure that no matter the hour or place, anytime is a good time at Times Grill.”
Times Grill opened its first location in 1994 in Mandeville, Louisiana. The restaurant quickly became known for its more than 20 distinctive burgers. All burger patties are hand made daily, char-grilled and cooked-to-order. Its specialty burger, the Times Burger™, is a half-pound patty that can be customized with seven different choices of cheeses such as American, cheddar, Swiss, provolone, blue, feta or pepperjack. All of the restaurant’s char-gilled burgers are served with lettuce, tomato, pickle and a choice of french fries or the Times potato salad.
Other notable burgers include the Cajun Sunset™, seasoned with Creole spices and topped with a pan-fried egg; the Goldburger™, basted in barbeque sauce and topped with melted pepperjack cheese and covered with onion slabs; All Jacked Up!™, a guest favorite topped with sweet grilled onions and spicy jack cheese; and the one-and-a-half pound Wall of Fame Burger, which offers guests a spot on the Times Grill Wall of Fame if they can finish it.
Times Grill’s menu also includes appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, wraps, entrees, desserts, old-fashioned malts, shakes and floats, as well as a full bar for its guests. The menu in each Times Grill location represents the culture of its city. For example, the Jacksonville menu features a timeline with the city’s historic dates and landmarks.
Not only do guests have fun at Times Grill—its employees are treated like stars. The “teammates” at Times Grill have personalized business cards and titles such as service managers for waiters and waitresses and assistant production managers for dishwashers.
The culture and direction of Times Grill has been guided by Harris since 2006. He brings more than 30 years of restaurant experience to Times Grill, including 10 years spent as the chief operations officer of a large regional chain.
Outside of work, Harris is involved in philanthropic pursuits. Throughout the years, he has held numerous positions with non-profit organizations, including his most recent involvement as the board president for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes of Northeast Florida.
His values have inspired him to develop a work environment that empowers the Times Grill staff. The bar for prospective teammates has been set high; an ideal teammate is courageous, competitive, responsible, respectful, goal driven, optimistic and seeks personal development.
“Our culture offers us the opportunity to improve everyday at Times Grill,” said Harris. “We are building an exceptional company with empowered people focused exclusively on our guests.”
Currently, there are four Times Grill locations throughout Louisiana in Mandeville, Slidell, and two in Baton Rouge. The restaurant will be expanding this year with its Jacksonville, Fla. location, which opens in early May; followed closely by its Pensacola, Fla. location opening in June. Two more Jacksonville locations are planned to open by the end of 2007.
