 Born and raised in Summit, NJ, Michael Romanelli has spent more than 36 years in the restaurant industry developing new concepts. Throughout his career, he has developed six restaurant concepts, opened 16 restaurants and created a franchise company to further expand his restaurant concepts.
At 18, Romanelli began his career with his family-owned restaurant called Romanelli’s Italian Eatery in Madison, NJ. He later opened several restaurants in New Jersey, including Little Italy Pizzeria & Italian Restaurant, Pizza Chef, Ten-Two Restaurant & Bar and Park One. He also opened a four-star gourmet restaurant called Café Atlantic, along with Scruples Night Club in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Upon his return to New Jersey, Romanelli purchased the franchisee rights for Crab House Restaurant and Captain Crab Take-Away Restaurant for five counties in Northern New Jersey. Tiff’s emerged when Romanelli decided he wanted to pursue a bigger challenge and own his own multi-unit restaurant company..
Romanelli is currently the co-owner of New Jersey-based multi-unit restaurant Tiff’s restaurants with Tony Siragusa, a former Baltimore Raven defense football player. Romanelli opened Tiff’s first location in Hollywood, Fla. in 1978, formerly “Tiffany’s Garden,” and moved the restaurant to Union, NJ 26 years ago. Tiff’s now has New Jersey locations in Pine Brook, Union, Morris Plains, Toms River and Clinton. They are planning to open to two more Tiff’s locations by the end of 2007.
Siragusa and Romanelli have also developed Goose’s BBQ products, which sells Tiff’s famous barbeque baby back ribs, seasoned pulled beef, seasoned pulled pork in barbeque sauce, shredded chicken and Italian meatballs in marinara sauce. These products are available in grocery stores across the country.
Although the restaurant industry is Romanelli’s forté, he has worn many other hats. Romanelli has previously assisted in the development of the River’s Edge, a condo/townhouse project, and owned In Concert Productions, a company that promoted concerts at different venues.
Romanelli is actively involved in the community and is on the board of the Tony Siragusa Foundation, which raises money for children’s charities such as Make a Wish Foundation and the Ed Block Foundation.
Tiff’s (5 locations-New Jersey)
Tiff’s multi-unit restaurant located in New Jersey opened its first location in Union 26 years ago as the former “Tiffany’s Garden.” Tiff’s now has locations in Pine Brook, Union, Morris Plains, Toms River and Clinton. Tiff’s serves an array of American favorites, such as its award-winning barbeque baby back ribs and freshly-prepared seafood, pasta and burger entrees. Owners Michael Romanelli and Tony Siragusa, a former Baltimore Raven defense football player, are expecting to open two more locations in New Jersey by winter of 2007.
